Industrious users, since the public release of the Intel-based Macs,
have been trying to get Windows booted on these new machines. On this front, it seems Linux beat Windows to the punch.
The folks behind
the Mactel-Linux project, an effort to adapt the GNU/Linux operating system to the Intel-based Macs, have successfully booted the open-source OS on an iMac Core Duo, from a USB hard disk, using
elilo and a modified Linux kernel.
