So you've got a MacBook Pro and you're wondering what to do with that ExpressCard/34 slot over on the left there? You know it's a cutting edge peripheral interface which is replacing the PCMCIA/CardBus standard that's been used for over a decade, but what can you stick in there? How about the Verizon Wireless EV-DO ExpressCard?
A growing number of laptops (from Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and others) only have ExpressCard slots, so the prototype release of Novatel's X620 EV-DO card in ExpressCard format was a welcome arrival, indeed. Gearlog test out the new card on a MacBook Pro, complete with photos, but ironically had to do so using Boot Camp with XP and Windows drivers. Mac OS X drivers will be made available via a Software Update once the card is officially released.
