Some MacBook Pro users report an annoying whine that seems tied to the current level of CPU activity. Under very little load, an audible whine is reported that is presumably tied to the system's CPU throttling for the sake of battery life. (I have a production week 10 MacBook Pro and am not plagued with this reported whining issue.)
A user on Apple's support discussion forums claims to have
found a remedy for the situation that comes in the form of an edit to a deep system file that changes certain CPU throttling thresholds. These are files that Apple clearly did NOT intend users to alter. Have a look at the thread and think long and hard before walking down this path....
