Parallels, maker of one of the more promising virtualization packages, has finally concluded its beta program and has released
Parallels Desktop for Mac for sale. See
the press release.
Of particular note is the limited, 30-day introductory price of $49.99, $30 off of the normal retail price of $79.99. Parallels Desktop is a fine alternative for users of Intel-based Macs who want to run a "foreign" operating system within Mac OS X, avoiding Boot Camp's need to reboot the system.
We grabbed some publicity a back in April by
getting NeXT's OPENSTEP operating system up and running under Parallels on our MacBook Pro. (And it flies, really!)
