Think Secret claims to have confirmation that when Apple unveils its new line of Power Mac G5 replacement machines (expected to be known as
the "Mac Pro" line), the units will sport a new enclosure, substantially different than the current G5 tower.
While no specifics are available, the new enclosure will allow for easy distinction between the current pro towers based on the PowerPC G5 and the new units, based on the
Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe) processor. What's more, the configurations of the new Mac Pro machines is said to be similar to those of the current Power Mac G5s. That is to say, a single dual-core processor at the low and mid-range, with dual dual-core processors (quad core) at the high-end.
A new enclosure is also expected for the MacBook Pro when it makes the jump from the current Intel Core Duo to the more powerful
mobile Core 2 Duo (Merom). The current enclosure of the MacBook Pro is almost identical to that of the preceeding, aluminum Power Book G4.
